The management and preservation of heritage sites are important because of their contribution to heritage tourism and the safeguarding of our history and culture. It is for that reason that the Sugar Industry Diversification Foundation (SIDF) gave a grant of EC$100,000 to the St. Christopher National Trust.
Launched in October 2009, the main goal of The St. Christopher National Trust is to build the capacity to manage and preserve four heritage sites on St. Kitts, while creating employment and entrepreneurial opportunites for the rural communities and adding to the tourism product.
The four heritage sites that are under the management of the St. Christopher National Trust are Belmont Estate Yard, Mansion Estate Yard, Spooner’s Ginnery and the Amerindian Petroglyph Site at Stone Fort Ghaut.
